Excuse me? While I agree that it's terribly sick that the lion has no teeth, please consider that the horse's natural predator is a big cat, and also that the cat may weigh as much if not more than that pony, who is built for carrying not more than 170 pounds or so, as I have seen other photos of the same incident and it is indeed a very lightly built pony. The horse is surely suffering much more than the cat in this instance, and I just think that needs to be considered as well, I don't find this something that is to be made light of in the slightest.
you're exactly right, in fact i tend to sympathize with the horse as well... especially since it looks terrified while the lion looks like he is on a toothless joyride. but you can only have one victim per photo so in this case, its lion gums.
